An Intermediate Wheel Throwing Workshop

Discover the beauty of the traditional Korean Moon Jar through an immersive wheel-throwing experience.

In this workshop, you will learn about the history, form and construction of the Korean Moon Jar. Through demonstrations, you will explore two different techniques: throwing a single large form and constructing a vessel from two separately thrown sections.

Participants will have the opportunity to create their own Moon Jar using the single-piece throwing technique, while learning about the traditional two-part construction method.

Workshop Details

•              Duration: 2 hours

•              Skill Level: Intermediate

•              Clay: Approximately 2–3kg per participant

•              Focus: Large-form wheel throwing, shaping and proportion

•              Demonstrations: Single-piece throwing and two-part construction

•              Workshop Fee: $80 AUD

•              Capacity: Limited to 6 participants

Experience Required

This workshop is designed for participants with previous wheel-throwing experience.

Participants should be confident centring clay and independently throwing a cylinder on the pottery wheel.

This workshop is not suitable for beginners.

Please Note

This workshop focuses on the making and shaping process only. Firing and glazing are not included in the workshop fee.

Participants will take home their unfired clay pieces. If you wish to have your piece fired, you can arrange this separately by becoming a member of the pottery club, subject to the club's membership and firing conditions.
