Our Studios are turning forty this year and this October we’re raising funds to upgrade our beloved Print Room.
Decade after decade, the Print Room has supported workshops, resident artists, community hire, and creative connection - it's now time for it to get some love!
GOAL ONE $2,500
Installing a reverse cycle air conditioner - no more stuffy summer days!
GOAL TWO $5,000
Upgrading the sinks to have hot water (hooray!)
GOAL THREE $7,500
Adding a mounted TV with sound system, making the space better suited for teaching artists and commercial and community hire.
Installing blinds to the windows, increasing privacy and assisting in creating a more comfortable space.
GOAL FOUR $10,000
Modifying our large tables so that they are movable and accessible for different workshops and ages.
Upgrading our storeroom for easier access and safe handling.
With these upgrades the space will become more user-friendly for all!

how can you show your support?
Our $10K Goal = $15K for the Print Room
As a not-for-profit, we don’t always have the funds for upgrades to spaces. But, after waiting forty years, we figured it was time for the Print Room to have a mini-makeover. The catch - we need your help to make it happen! Creative Australia is generously matching every dollar that we raise up to $5,000. This means every dollar you donate is actually $2 towards the Print Room and $10,000 becomes $15,000 - how great is that!
How did we get Creative Australia’s support?
We’ve registered for AusArt Day 2026, a national day that supports Australian artists and organisations to raise funds for the work we’re passionate about. We were fortunate enough to receive one of Creative Australia’s Matched Funding Micro-grants to help maximise the impact your donations have. We know we can’t upgrade the Studio alone. But, with matched funding, each donation - big or small - has a greater impact.

celebrate on Ausart day too
On AusArt Day, Thursday 22nd October 2026, the Cannery will come alive with celebrations!
Print-athon
Join us in the Print Room from 10am - 4pm for our printing marathon! Some keen printers will be in the space with a goal of making 100 fishy prints as an homage to our history (did you know our building was once an actual fish cannery?). Come along to watch the printers at work or to try your hand at creating your very own prints to take home and add to the tally!
Can’t make it? We’ll be livestreaming parts of the marathon on our Instagram throughout the day so you can see how we’re tracking with our goal. Follow us so you don’t miss out!

40 Year Anniversary Afternoon Tea
To celebrate the Studios turning forty this year we’re celebrating with an afternoon tea outside the spaces. Joining us will be Life Member Penny Blumann who was previously Chairperson of our committee and key in the establishment of the Studios; it is an honour to have her celebrate with us! Join us from 2pm for tea, coffee and sweet treats. You’ll also get to see glimpses of the history of the spaces through images and memorabilia hung up around the Print Room.
