EOI for exhibitions

  • Cannery Arts Centre Norseman Road Esperance, WA, 6450 Australia (map)

The Cannery Arts Centre wants to support artists to exhibit, develop and collaborate.

Whether it's a solo show, group exhibition, kids installation, community project, or your first go at curating — we want to hear your ideas.

With the appointment of two new Artistic Directors — Alex Desebrock (Main Gallery) and Rani Fankha (Art Room Gallery) — we’re taking a more strategic and collaborative approach to our exhibition program. We're inviting artists to talk with us, pitch ideas, and dream with us.

What we are looking for:

  • Exhibitions by both emerging and established artists

  • Solo, group or collaborative works

  • Work that reflects or connects with the Kepa Kurl / Esperance community and landscape

  • Opportunities to link local artists and audiences from across WA, Australia, and internationally

We’re also seeking a broad mix of:

  • Artforms – sculpture, textiles, pottery, installation, digital, technology and beyond

  • Exhibitions that showcase or allow space for experimentation and development

  • Projects that support artist growth through sales, workshops, practice, or curation

  • Exhibitions that centre equity and representation, with a focus on First Nations, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and disabled artists

Ready to share your idea?

We’d love to hear it. But before you apply, here are a few things to do:

  • Read through our “Nuts & Bolts” info sheet – it covers all the practical details you’ll need.

  • Join our EOI Info Session on Tuesday 17 June at 5.30pm. Register here.

  • Complete Section 1 of the Expression of Interest form by 9am Thursday 10 July

  • Then, pitch your project by 9am Thursday 10 July –you can do this by:

    • Filling out the rest of the form,

    • Or sending us a video or audio recording,

    • Or setting up a chat with us online or in person before the 10 July.

We want this process to be flexible, open, and welcoming. Let us know which space you see your work in – the Main Gallery or the Art Room Gallery – and let’s start the conversation.
