Dempster Homestead Open Garden & CAC Fundraiser

  • Dempster Homestead 155 Dempster Street Esperance, WA, 6450 Australia (map)

Join us for this perfect spring fundraiser event at your local historic Dempster Homestead on the 23rd of October. It has been well over ten years since the gardens at the Dempster Homestead have been open to the public. This is your opportunity to bring friends and family to the surroundings of this beautiful heritage home and support your local non-profit arts organisation.

We thank owner and Cannery Arts Centre committee member Victoria Brown for providing our community with this spectacular opportunity and recognising all the fantastic work and renovations that have taken place over the past five years at the Dempster Homestead. The Cannery Arts Centre credit our ongoing ties to local history and art.

"The Dempster Homestead has a long association with the arts and raising funds for town organisations. The former owner, Marie Louise Wordsworth, was very active in the community in Esperance and was fundamental to the establishment of the Esperance Arts Council, with the Homestead being used as a venue for many community events and exhibitions. We continue that tradition." - Victoria Brown.

Tours of the garden will take place from 10:30 am, 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm. Please take note of these times to ensure you don't miss out on anything amongst the beautiful blooms. Please note that further renovations are taking place inside the Homestead, so only the gardens will be open. That said, what an excellent introduction to this historical location.

Entry - $10 Adults and under 18 years FREE.

Parking is available on Dempster Street. We ask that you avoid parking on footpaths along Emily Street and Corry Street. There will be no access to the garden from Douglas Place, so please enter on foot from the gravel drive near the big rock.

Refreshments will be available for a small fee, and morning and afternoon tea will be provided courtesy of our local Country Women's Association branch.

We look forward to seeing you there!
