Please join us to celebrate the opening of Tune In - local creative Rosie Henderson’s first solo exhibition here in her hometown of Kepa Kurl Esperance.
Tune In is an invitation to share an insight into the way she sees and experiences the world, showcasing scenes captured in her hometown of Esperance and backyard of regional WA.
Inspired by her childhood and personal connection with Country, Rosie’s still and moving images explore themes of human existence and connection to Country and each other, calling us to Tune In - to ourselves, each other, and the natural world around us.
Picking up a camera and taking photos from an early age, it’s always been a ‘practice of presence’ for the self-taught artist - a way to slow down, observe, and connect with what is happening and existing around her. She finds this in nature too - a safe space where she finds guidance, belonging, and inspiration - in cloud-filled skies, open spaces, intricate patterns of tree leaves, the silence of the bush, the banter of the birds, star filled skies, bold granite outcrops, wild winds and sparkling shorelines.
Rosie hopes that Tune In might inspire us to slow down and be more present in the magic and wonder that still exists around us - to rekindle fascination and awe, to care for Country like it cares for us, and to foster connection and hope in our lives.
Opening: Thurs 2 April 6pm to 8pm.
Nibbles will be provided and drinks will be available froom the Cannery Bar. We’d love to see you and celebrate with you!

Artist Bio
Rosie Henderson is a multimedia creative who grew up in the bush and by the beach in Kepa Kurl Esperance on the South Coast of Western Australia. Deeply inspired by these places, stories, and landscapes, her work explores life in regional Australia, the human experience and connection to ourselves, Country and community.
Taking photos from an early age, she learnt to shoot on her parents 35mm Pentax and Minolta. Entirely self taught, Rosie embarked on many journeys before beginning her journey as a full time creative. Upon completing a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Politics, Journalism, and International Relations in the big smoke, she took off in search of passport stamps and years of overseas adventures. She travelled India on an Enfield, hiked the Himalayas of Nepal, lived in New Zealand, and sipped on sangrias in Spain.
Returning to Australia and her home town of Esperance following the passing of her youngest sister (and greatest muse) in a tragic farm accident not long before the onset of COVID, Rosie rekindled her connection to this place and community, finding peace, purpose and connection in times of grief, chaos and confusion.
Rosie now works as a freelance photographer and videographer collaborating alongside a range of clients on everything from documentary films to fashion campaigns. She also works in art and creative direction - bringing events, sets, brands and visions to life.
