NATURAL SOAP MAKING
Learn to craft your very own soap using items such as local olive oil, activated charcoal, kelp, clay and essential oils.
During this 2hr workshop you will make a tray of soap to take home, however this activity does require patience as these wee bars of soap need to cure for several months!
*IMPORTANT: Please wear covered shoes, a long-sleeved shirt, and long pants. Also bring kitchen gloves and protective glasses.
Tutor: Jenny Morcombe
Jen Morcombe enjoys sustainable crafting - including soap making using local materials such as Yirri Grove Olive Oil. Jen has been making soap for 5 years, recently, branching out into shampoo, liquid soap and cleaning products. Some of these are at Naturally Esperance. Mushroom propagation, veggie growing, compost worm farming, beeswax food wraps, recycled fabric shopping bags, sustainable living and housing and recycled pallet gardens are also topics that Jen teaches. Jen has also taught children’s sessions at the Cannery. Maths and English tutoring is another activity Jen enjoys, having studied for a Bachelor of Education (Primary) as a mature aged student, here in Esperance at Curtin University, and subsequently taught at several Mallee schools. Grandmother to seven, Jen spends time gardening, tree planting and taking care of the hobby farm with a cow, a mini pony and an alpaca, along with partner, Tim Bailye.
