Glass blowing, a technique to manipulate molten glass into hollow shapes and cylinders was thought to be developed as early as the 1st century BC.
Since then the techniques have been developed in line with improvements in glass technology but the basics have remained much the same.
Come and try your hand (or lungs) at glass blowing in a safe, controlled environment guided by highly skilled and classically trained glass artist Steve Cooke.
Participants can turn up at Archipelago Studio Glass anytime between 10am and 4pm and be guided through the basics of glass-blowing while making a Christmas Bauble to take home.
Factor 15-20mins per bauble
Bookings must be made through the Cannery website prior to taking the workshop
Steve Cooke trained in the UK at Langham Glass and has been working and living in Esperance for around 18 years.
An in demand artist, Steve travels the country working on sculpture in collaboration with other artists. He draws a lot of his inspiration for his pieces from the Esperance coastal environment.
