SUMMER SOLAR DYEING ON T-SHIRTS

Learn all about solar dyes - dyes that develop colour & become permanent when exposed to sunlight - in this fun 2hr workshop just for 8-16yr olds. Solar dyes can allow you to create remarkably detailed prints on fabric by harnessing the power of the sun, however these dyes can also be used in tie dyeing, screen printing, stamping, and the batik method. Participants will create a unique print on a t-shirt to take home - t-shirts supplied!

Tutor: Naomi Stanitzki

Naomi Stanitzki was born and raised in Esperance and returned to settle down with her young family. After completing school Naomi left her home town to study art and travel. Completing a Bachelors Degree in Visual Art, she then spent many years creating art in response to the places she’s visited. Naomi has spent 5 years teaching art full time at Pilbara TAFE and facilitated many workshops for budding artists young and old. Deeply inspired by the natural environment here she now creates artwork in a variety of mediums including printmaking, ceramics, painting and drawing. Naomi loves sharing her skills and knowledge with anyone interested in having a go at something new.

COVID 19 Response:

The Cannery has implemented a COVID Safety Plan to ensure the health and well-being of our KICKARTS participants and tutors. Please note: social distancing will be observed in the studios, course content has been adapted to suit new safety guidelines, hand sanitiser will be provided on entry, and studios will be cleaned before and after each workshop. In addition, parents and carers are expected to drop their children off at the door to the studio. Tutors will make note of the child’s name, however parents/carers are not to enter the studios unless absolutely necessary, due to social distancing requirements and room capacity limits (please contact the Cannery on 9071 3599 if your child has any special needs and/or requires a carer present for the duration of the workshop).
