Course Description

Run over 6 weeks, this course will focus on hand building techniques, as well as the principals of glazing, to create unique tableware.  A variety of clays will be utilised which will reflect various looks and textures in finished pieces, and participants will also learn the basics skills of packing and firing a kiln. This course caters for beginners to advanced and is limited to 10 participants.  All materials are provided however this includes a set amount of clay, and participants may be required to purchase additional clay if needed.  

It is recommended that participants wear appropriate clothing, and that they bring along a towel, as well we a pad of paper and a pen.  Finished products are generally ready for pick up 3 weeks after the course has finished.

*Please note - there will be no class on March 4th due to the long weekend.  Classes will occur on the following dates: February 25th, March 11th, 18th, 25th, and April 1st & 8th. 

Tutor Bio

Krystal Obschonka has been a practising artist & craftswoman for the past 30 years, porcelain and stoneware being her medium of choice. Krystal has a love of her craft and loves teaching others - thus she has become a mainstay here at the Cannery, passing on her skills to children, youth, and adults.
