Green Thumbs is a gardening series for children aged 6-12, which will run over 6 weeks and be lead by Geoff Tonkin. Geoff will focus on the basics of organic gardening. Located in the Cannery’s Forage Garden, children will be responsible for planning, planting and caring for the plants in their veggie patch. Children will be able to take home plants, cuttings, seeds - and even worms for their own home gardens!
*Children are asked to bring along a water bottle, a broad-brimmed hat, a long sleeve shirt, and closed toed shoes. Sunscreen will be provided. Parents are welcome to stay but are not required to.
Geoff Tonkin has been one of WA’s leading permaculture specialists since 1995. In the last 4 years he has been working as a practical teaching aid utilising the Nulsen Primary School Permaculture Garden to foster and promote gardening and sustainable living practices.
