Conceptual art, sometimes simply called conceptualism, is art in which the concepts or ideas involved in the work take precedence over traditional aesthetic, technical, and material concerns. This workshop will provide an introduction to conceptual art, immersing participants in the process of drawing ideas using a selection of mediums, from paints to crayons. Lynnette uses such techniques as reading descriptive texts aloud to aid in ideas formulation; she will be reading Randolph Stow’s The Merry Go-Round in the Sea. All materials provided.
