Tutor: James Giddy

Heavily inspired by the natural environment and the French motif of en plein air painting, James Giddy revolves his practice around themes concerning the unknown as well as environmental conservation, generally drawing inspiration from and referencing site specific subject matter.  Initially recognized through an internship with the Little Wing Corner Gallery in 2014 and mural work for Form Western Australia’s Public project, James completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Curtin University in 2016 and has since expanded his practice. His murals can be found throughout WA, New South Wales, Queensland as well as internationally in India, America, South Africa and Indonesia.    In 2020 James joined the Cannery as an artist in residence while completing two murals at Bob & Jim's General Store, and leading a workshop at the Cannery.  James is back in Esperance for his exhibition Honeymoon.  Honeymoon will feature some of Jame's recent work as well as scultptural works by local artist Jason Wooldridge, and soundscapes by Perth based musician Chip Hazard.
