NGALAK | UNITY is a sharing of Wudjari Nyungar culture and art to celebrate NAIDOC 2022.

Opening night presents a cultural immersion celebration for the whole family in the main gallery. Kicking off with a Welcome to Country and featuring art, storytelling, film, dance & music. Join us for delicious bush tucker inspired nibbles and tactile activities sharing Nyugar Wudjari culture.

The exhibition will feature artwork for sale by local Wudjari Nyungar artists Atheleen Thomas and Robert Woods, ‘Bush to Sea’ wood carvings by Tim Phoebe and a collection of works from artists of the Minyma Kutjara Arts Project (the youngest and oldest arts project in the Ngaanyatjarra lands)

Throughout the month of July get involved with the events and activities on offer to the whole community commencing with the NGALAK | UNITY Aboriginal Art Exhibition, FREE cultural tours with Dabungool Cultural Experiences, cultural art and craft journeys for the kids and teens and our artists in residence Atheleen Thomas and Robert Woods creating on-site at the Cannery.

NGALAK | UNITY is a collaboration between Mudjar Aboriginal Corporation and the Cannery Arts Centre, supported by the Shire of Esperance, Regional Arts WA and the National Indigenous Australians Agency.
