The Cannery Arts Centre (CAC) team has been so overwhelmed by the support from our community we are developing new and innovative ways to give back starting with this amazing opportunity for one local artist.

We want to give away a six-month scholarship to our popular Art Lab series!

The selected artist will be eligible to select and attend our massive range of Art Lab workshops from August through to December 2022.

How to apply:

No lengthy application forms; we want to keep the process as short and easy as possible.

You need to give us some basic details:

  • Name

  • Age

  • Address

  • Social media handles or website links to your works (only if they relate to your application, we don’t need to know all about your private life) and

  • Persuade us as to why you are the best applicant for the inaugural Cannery Art Lab Scholarship. Tell us how you will benefit from the workshops. You are welcome to include an artist bio and CV but it's not crucial. (One-page max)

Applications will be shortlisted by a selection panel comprising Cannery staff and committee with the finalist announced in early August.

Important things to note:

  • The CAC Scholarship is open to people over 18 only

  • The selected artist can attend as many or as few workshops as they like over the August to December period.

  • Scholarship excludes the Pottery wheel course (only due to the small number this course can accept though pottery wheel can be done in the Sunday pottery course)

  • This is a trial program that if successful the Cannery will look to expand in 2023

  • The panel’s decision is final and no feedback will be given to other entrants

  • The winner will be promoted through all our usual channels (social and print media). If you are shy that’s OK we can limit your exposure but we do want to celebrate you and your achievements!

CAC staff and committee or close family members are not eligible to apply

Application due by email to or drop off in person by Tuesday 26 July 12noon.
